While guests will eventually experience only a single dazzling evening, behind the scenes, the countdown has already become very real.

Inside the Las Patronas decoration workshop, the pace has noticeably accelerated in recent weeks. What started months ago as sketches, fabric samples, and design concepts is now taking physical shape as crews of volunteers work steadily to bring this year’s elaborate vision to life. Massive painted panels lean against warehouse walls, tables overflow with carefully organized décor elements, and partially completed installations hint at the dramatic transformation still to come.

For longtime La Jollans familiar with the Jewel Ball tradition, the scale of the undertaking is always impressive. Entire environments are essentially constructed from scratch — themed entrances, custom backdrops, intricate centerpieces, lighting effects, and architectural details designed to completely transport guests the moment they walk through the doors.

As the event draws closer, workshop evenings have become increasingly busy.
